Zorn’s Lemma Reviewed

John Zorn (cropped version)

From Examiner.com:

At the end of last February, composer John Zorn released a recording of three pieces of chamber music composed between 2011 and 2012 on his own Tzadik label. The 2011 compositions, “Ceremonial Magic” and “Passagen” are for solo violin, while the twelve “apophthegms,” which begin the album, are for violin duo. The title of the album is Lemma.

The result is a program of chamber music given a title that has two non-musical implications. The fundamental implication is that of the mathematical proposition known as “Zorn’s lemma.”
