From the Bohemian in Exile:
Friday, April 26: Bhob Rainey, Bonnie Jones, Chris Cogburn
Amazing avant garde sounds from electronic circuit bender Bonnie Jones, visionary sax innovator Bhob Rainey, and percussionist Chris Cogburn. In 2010, after years of friendship and musical intersections frequently revolving around Austin’s No Idea Festival, Chris Cogburn brought this trio together for concerts in Texas (Marfa and Austin) and Mexico.
The trio brings together musicians who have performed and collaborated extensively in the improvised and experimental music communities of the US and abroad. Collaborating frequently with musicians like Greg Kelley, Andrea Neumann, Axel Dörner, Toshimaru Nakamura, Vic Rawlings, Tatsuya Nakatani and Christine Abdelnour among others. Their music explores structure and gesture at a bare and measured level, negotiating the distinct and precarious relationships between sound, space, performer, and audience. Their work has been called “a tightrope display of careful listening.”
