Here is where I post, at a frequency of about once a week, a list of the new music that has caught my attention that week. All of the releases listed below I’ve heard for the first time this week and come recommended.

The Collapse Guitar Quartet will perform at Spectrum, NYC, Saturday, April 6 at 8 PM. 121 Ludlow St. New York NY 10002.

9Volt + diNMachine will perform April 7 AT Manhattan’s Bowery Electric, Sunday, April 7 at 9 PM, 327 Bowery New York, NY 10003.

Four unique voices perform solos on March 12, 2013 at The Gallery at Port City, Portland. Dr. John C. Savage (flute, saxophone), Madelyn Villano (violin), Danielle Ross (dance), Ken Ollis (drums).

New works by Pauline Oliveros, Mohammed Fairouz, and four others to be featured in The Industry’s FIRST TAKE, a West Coast Opera Workshop, June 1, 2013 2:00-5:30pm. Free performances of six operatic works-in-progress at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, in collaboration with wild Up chamber orchestra.

The latest release from Soft Machine Legacy is out.

On Friday, March 8 at 8:00 p.m., the Washington Square Contemporary Music Society will present the New York new music collective “ensemble mise-en” in their third concert of the season at the TENRI Cultural Institute in New York City. This concert will include two world premieres of works by Irish composer Karen Power and American composer Eric Lyon, a US premiere by Korean composer Eunhye (Grace) Park, and a New York premiere by Isang Yun. Danish composer Hans Abrahamsen, a frequently programmed composer by ensemble mise-en, will also be featured on the concert. The project is also supported by DMFF (Dansk Music Publishers Association) through KODA’s Funds for cultural and social purposes. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for seniors, and $5 for students and can be purchased online at wscms.brownpapertickets.com or at the door prior to the concert.
