Sofia Gubaidulina in Composer Portraits at the Miller Theater Reviewed

Christian Knapp conducted the International Contemporary Ensemble in several of Ms. Gubaidulina’s works on Saturday evening at the Miller Theater as part of the Composer Portraits series. Ms. Gubaidulina, who immigrated to Germany in 1992, often writes for unusual combinations of instruments and for specific musicians. She composed “In Tempus Praesens,” one of her most alluring works, for the violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter.
