From Editions Mego:

20130511 Editions Mego is the largest live assemblage of the Editions Mego aesthetic to date. Presented at the astonishing De La Warr Pavilion (one of the first major modernist buildings in Britain, located on the East Sussex coast and built in 1935), this is an event that will showcase generations of electronic music practice whilst remaining suitably restless to sit within a quantifiable form.

The day event will consist of 2 rooms of the ultimate exploratory, up to the minute electronic music.

The GRM room
Having taken on the noble task of re-issuing the holy grail of the 20th Century abstract electronic music canon from the archives of the legendary French electronic studios, the INA-GRM, there will be a room dedicated to the GRM with ‘surround sound’ presentations of works both historical and contemporary. Legendary works by the French scientists/poets/maniacs will be represented by diffusion of works by Luc Ferrari and Bernard Parmegiani. Another diffusion will be the premiere of a new work by Hecker who has in the years since his initial published work on Mego established himself in multiple disciplines including computer music, psychoacoustics, installation art and philosophy (often within the same work). Kassel Jaeger will represent the GRM in it’s latest incarnation being a sound engineer who also makes complex works of unsettling beauty. Robert Hampson (He once of Loop and The Man behind Main) has worked with the GRM having had the piece ‘Répercussions’ commissioned for playback on the Acousmonium speaker system in 2011. Both Jaeger and Hampson will present their works in person.

The Live Room
The Live Room will play host to all manner of sonic exploration. Ranging from classic Editions Mego brethren such as the ubiquitous hellraiser Russell Haswell who will undertake a fierce sensory shifting set along with the original abstract/melodic master Fennesz who returns to the home that unleashed him upon an unsuspecting world so many moons ago. New additions to the roster will make a showcase of their talents including Austrian audio/visual artist Billy Roisz and legendary ambient producer Mark Van Hoen performing under his Locust guise. The absolute master of exquisite chaos, Kevin Drumm is destined to be a highlight as is an appearance by the dedicated grand master of the UK underground, Mr Bruce Gilbert. Finally, post techno’s most lucid practitioner, Mark Fell will assure an evening of unforgettable sonic arsenal with his unique take on theory, chaos and reconstructed rave gestures. Mark will also be setting up a sound and strobe light installation elsewhere in the building.

Mat Steel & Bill Kouligas will be making a DJ sets in the bar.

All ticket holders get a free CD compilation with exclusive tracks by everyone involved. This will not go into distribution, and full track listing to be announce end of March.

Tickets will be available from the De La Warr site shortly.
