Still, rigor is relative, and Feldman wielded his control relatively lightly in this murmuring, throbbing sequence of sonic events. As in the works of certain influential painters with whom he was friendly, like Philip Guston and Mark Rothko, Feldman sought to impose a kind of objective parity among sounds, dispelling notions of foreground and background.
