Elliot Carter Performances in New York Reviewed

From NYTimes.com:

It was an Elliott Carter kind of week in New York, and few would complain. On June 8 Mr. Carter, still astonishingly productive at 103, was present for the premiere of his latest work, “Two Controversies and a Conversation,” in Contact!, the New York Philharmonic’s new-music series. And on Tuesday evening two of Mr. Carter’s (slightly) older works were performed by the violinist Rolf Schulte in a concert offered as part of the Institute and Festival for Contemporary Performance, held each summer at Mannes College the New School for Music.

Philip Glass at Issue Project Room Reviewed

English: Composer Philip Glass, Florence 1993

From NYTimes.com:

A concert on Wednesday evening featuring Philip Glass, who celebrated his 75th birthday in January, opened a three-evening benefit, “Philip Glass: Music With Friends,” for the Issue Project Room in Brooklyn. At first glance the program, which paired Mr. Glass with the singer and songwriter Stephen Merritt and the avant-garde trumpeter Nate Wooley, seemed thrown together, a shaggy grab bag.
