WEDNESDAY June 13th (tonight) at Spectrum – 121 Ludlow st., second floor.
The Super Coda presents Amy X Neuberg, Todd Reynolds, Matthew Silver, Felix Morelo, Joseph Keckler, Valerie Kuehne, live in concert. Free improvisations and performance art to stir your inner Sphynx. Each of these artists, respectively, have traveled to Mercury and back…, and live to tell the tale and somehow miraculously avoid setting off metal detectors every time they fly cross country for their plethora of shows. Please, come join us in engaging, unwinding, digesting, expanding, contracting, and conflating syntax with semantics, tonally or otherwise.
This concert will take place on Wednesday, June 13th at Spectrum (Glenn Cornett’s new new Space, 121 Ludlow), doors at 7:30, performances shortly thereafter.
I plan to bring some sort of tempting dessert involving marzipan. Please feel free to do the same. And without further ado, the lineup:Amy X Neuburg – (composer / vocalist / live electronics performer) has developed a unique career bridging the boundaries between classical, experimental and popular musics. Her ‘avant-cabaret’ songs combine her interests in poetry and language, expressive use of music technology (with an emphasis on live looping), and exploration of multiple genres using the many colors of her four-octave vocal range. As soloist she has performed at venues as diverse as the Other Minds and Bang on a Can new music festivals, the Berlin International Poetry Festival, the Wellington and Christchurch Jazz Festivals (NZ), electronic music festivals, colleges, clubs and concert halls throughout the US and abroad. (It may also be mentioned that Amy is in town for a limited time, catching her before she returns to San Fransisco is highly advised.)
Todd Reynolds – Todd Reynolds, violinist, composer, educator and technologist is known as one of the founding fathers of the hybrid-musician movement and one of the most active and versatile proponents of what he calls ‘present music’. The violinist of choice for Steve Reich, Meredith Monk, Bang on a Can, and a founder of the string quartet known as Ethel, his compositional and performance style is a hybrid of old and new technology, multi-disciplinary aesthetic and pan-genre composition and improvisation. Reynolds’ music has been called “a charming, multi-mood extravaganza, playful like Milhaud, but hard-edged like Hendrix” (Strings Magazine), and his countless premieres and performances of everything from classical music to Jazz to Rock‘n’Roll seem to redefine the concert hall and underground club as undeniably and unavoidably intertwined. He has just released his double CD set, Outerborough on Innova Recordings, featuring InSide, a collection of his own music, paired with OutSide, music written by a veritable who’s who of contemporary composers.

Ecstatic melody, unimaginable sounds and deep sexy beats played Industrial Flutes, Bullhorn Harmonicas, Regurgitated Music Box, Triple Extended Pennywhistls, Miniature Hand Bell Choir, Obnoxiophone, Glass Bowls With Red Marbles, human beat box and a clutch of curious objects. Felix Morello – Felix Morelo is a Colombian American artist living in New York City. He is best known for his chalk drawings, free advice, and paintings. http://felixmorelo.wordpress.com/
Joseph Keckler – is a singer and artist whose work takes form in music, interdisciplinary performance, video, and written narrative. He is interested in staging conversations among different art forms. He was born in Michigan, in one of several towns that begin with the letter P and orbit the relative metropolis of Kalamazoo. He went on to train in painting and classical voice and move to New York City. Joseph’s concerts and performances have recently been presented by SXSW Music, The New Museum for Contemporary Art, Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater, La MaMa ETC, NP Contemporary Art Center, SF MOMA, Abrons Art Center and many other venues across the country and abroad. He has been awarded residencies at MacDowell Artist Colony and Yaddo Artist Colony. Joseph’s E.P, Featured Creatures was released last year in Italy by Transeuropa. He is currently working on musical projects, videos, and a collection of stories.
