The Columbia Free Times previews two concerts featuring this duo, and profiles them as well.
Trombonist Jeb Bishop and drummer Tim Daisy first started playing together in the Chicago Improvisers Group, a monthly meeting of large group of then-young guns (its ranks included, at times, familiar to Columbia players such as Aram Shelton, Jason Roebke, Fred Lonberg-Holm and Dave Rempis) curated by Bishop from 1999 to 2002. Both have logged time with avant-garde titan and MacArthur genius Ken Vandermark’s Vandermark 5 ensemble.
