From Detroit New Music:
Wednesday, May 16: Keir Nueringer at Lo and Behold, Hamtramck
Multi-unstrumentalist Keir Nueringer excels in circular-breathing, solo saxophone sets. He’ll take a breath and not come up for air again until the set is over. He uses extended technique to create vivid soundscapes that build in a smartly composed way. Keir also performs as a one-man band, doing more song or loop based material.
Doors at 7:30, $5 suggested minimum.
Saturday, May 19: Arrington de Dionyso and Thollem McDonas, Immigrant Suns at Tangent Gallery
Perennial favorite Thollem McDonas visits Detroit again, this time in a duo with Arrington de Dionyso in a show that- at the artists’ request- is a benefit for our new venue. Detroit’s own Immigrant Suns gives a rare performance as well. It’ll be a great night of New Music piano virtuosity, rock and roll spirit and thnomusicological throw-down.
Doors at 9 pm; $10 suggested minimum donation.
Tangent Gallery is located at 715 E. Milwaukee, Detroit.
At Hastings street in The New Center neighborhood.
