The first of a trio of Early Music Vancouver experiments features harpsichord music by avant-garde composer György Ligeti, performed by Alexander Weimann, Oct. 25, 8 p.m. at the Cellar Restaurant and Jazz Club in Vancouver.

Jazz Talmud: Music & Poetry takes place Thursday September 15, 2011 at 8:30pm, featuring Jake Marmer (voice), Greg Wall (sax), Rob Henke (trumpet), and Uri Sharlin (keys) at the Sixth Street Synagogue, 325 East Sixth Street, New York.

Brooklyn’s Fotofono is featuring, on Monday, September 12, 9:00 pm, the Bryan Eubanks and Jason Kahn duo and the Andrew Lafkas, Cat Lamb, Radu Malfatti and Tucker Dulin quartet.

On Saturday, September 24, 6-8pm, Billy Martin of Medeski Martin and Wood will perform in Philadelphia . Billy will be joined by former Miles Davis-collaborator and saxophonist Bill Evans as well as the exceptional Philadelphia drummer G. Calvin Weston.

On October 3, 2011 at 8pm, at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Symphony Space Red Light presents music influenced by environments, from the Arctic to the urban to the volcanic. Accompanying visual projections guide the listener through this world of sound.
