Cafe OTO September Update

A few additional shows coming to Cafe OTO, in addition to those we’ve already covered.

LISTEN TO THIS: MICROMUSIC / APARTMENT HOUSE
Thursday 8 September ’11 • 8PM
£6 advance / £8 on the door

Listen to This is a series of music concerts curated by composers. Micromusic, the second in the series and curated by Joanna Bailie is a concert of where music is sampled, transcribed, saturated, over-amplified and held under the microscope. Apartment House will perform new music by Phill Niblock, Johannes Kreidler and Yannis Kyriakides.

BLACK TOP: PAT THOMAS / ORPHY ROBINSON / STEVE WILLIAMSON
Thursday 22 September ’11 • 8PM
£6 advance / £7 on the door

Debut gig for Black Top – a new free improvisation trio led by Pat Thomas – one of the UK’s most unique and vital keyboard players. Here he’ll play piano and electronics alongside saxophonist Steve Williamson and Orphy Robinson’s Steel Pans.

LEE GAMBLE / ROGER TURNER / SEYMOUR WRIGHT
Tuesday 27 September ’11 • 8PM
£5 (£4 concs) on the door only

An extended encounter between three musicians who’ve never played together before and have no shared fallback position. Lee Gamble (electronics), Roger Turner (Percussion), Seymour Wright (Saxophones). Improvisation at its most risky, dramatic and fascinating!

TETSUYA UMEDA
Thursday 29 September ’11 • 8PM
£6 advance / £7 on the door

The enigmatic Japanese sound artist Tetsuya Umeda returns to cafe OTO to explore the idiosyncrasies of the building and rewire our electrical supply for an evening of unpredictable sound and atmospheric transformation.
