The 23rd Season of INTERPRETATIONS, Thomas Buckner’s longstanding series for the presentation of innovative new music, begins with an evening of immersive creations from two esteemed composers! Morton Subotnick performs with projected visuals from light artist / painter Tony Martin, and George Lewis presents his electro-acoustic music with the Wet Ink Ensemble.

series offers an excellent window into the latest doings of the New York and international avant-garde.
Light artist/painter, Tony Martin and composer/performer Morton Subotnick will come together to present a program of light and sound collaborations, intetrating electronic music with live projected visuals. They first performed together in 1963 and have continued their collaborations off and on over these many years. This performance will precede their European appearances in October, 2011
MacArthur fellow and acclaimed composer, improviser, and theorist George Lewis presents innovative new electroacoustic chamber music, performed with New York’s celebrated Wet Ink Ensemble. Founded in 1998, Wet Ink has presented over 80 concerts featuring a wide range of artists. Wet Ink will perform George Lewis’ 8-channel electroacoustic work “Les Exercises Spirituels”. George Lewis and Wet Ink member Sam Pluta will also perform a duo for trombone and electronics.
