Bargemusic (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Thursday) Guitars, lutes and viols animate the programming at Bargemusic, the floating concert hall on the East River, this weekend. On Friday the guitarist Luigi Attademo offers a tribute to Paganini (who played the guitar as well as the violin), with music by Paganini and variations on his music by several contemporary Italian composers, including Alessandro Solbiati, Michele Tadini, Mauro Cardi, Daniele Bravi, Matteo D’Amico and Fabrizio Festa. On Saturday, Paul Galbraith, who plays an expanded, eight-string guitar that he holds as if it were a cello, plays transcriptions of works by Haydn, Schumann, Hindemith and Bach. And on Sunday the viol consort Parthenia, with the countertenor Ryland Angel and the lutenist Daniel Swenberg, plays music by Dowland, Purcell and Henry VIII. Then it’s over to the piano: on Thursday the pianist Inna Faliks plays music by Schubert, Liszt, Lev Zhurbin (known as Ljova), Morton Feldman, Sofia Gubaidulina and Rodion Shchedrin. Friday, Saturday and Thursday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m., Bargemusic, Fulton Ferry Landing next to the Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn, (718) 624-2083, bargemusic.org; $35, $30 for 65+; $15 for students. John Moran … and His Neighbor, Saori (Friday and Saturday) Remembered among new-music circles for his audacious operas of the 1990s, the composer and conceptual artist John Moran has reinvented his art in the intimate works he has created with the dancer Saori Tsukada, which blend choreography, spoken word, music and mischief with an entirely personal logic, to enchanting effect. For its first American performances since 2007, the pair offers the New York premiere of a 2010 piece, “John Moran + Saori (… in Thailand).” At 8 p.m., Issue Project Room, 232 Third Street, at Third Avenue, third floor, Gowanus, Brooklyn, (718) 330-0313, issueprojectroom.org; $15. Mother Mallard’s Portable Masterpiece Company (Wednesday) Formed in 1969 by the pioneering Minimalist composer David Borden, this trailblazing synthesizer ensemble performs here all too rarely. Its program includes sections from Mr. Borden’s 12-part “Continuing Story of Counterpoint,” long ago dubbed the “Goldberg” Variations of Minimalism, and other works that uncannily predicted current trends in electronica and dance music. At 8 p.m., Issue Project Room, 232 Third Street, at Third Avenue, third floor, Gowanus, Brooklyn, (718) 330-0313, issueprojectroom.org; $10. (Smith)

Tilt Brass Band (Thursday) A vivacious, inventive new-music ensemble, Tilt fields a seven-member complement for an evening of recent pieces for brass, percussion and electronics, including the New York premiere of “Herakles 2” by Heiner Goebbels and additional works by Richard Barrett, Peter Zummo and Christopher McIntrye (the ensemble’s music director). At 8 p.m., Issue Project Room, 232 Third Street, at Third Avenue, third floor, Gowanus, Brooklyn, (718) 330-0313, issueprojectroom.org; $10. (Smith)
