Dog Soup
Led by trumpeter Robbie Robson, with John Turville (Rhodes/Fx), Johnny Brierley (bass) and Tim Giles (drums), Dog Soup explore original material in the spirit of Miles Davis‘s 1970s album ‘Bitches Brew’. The band revisit the seething electronic stew that constituted the music of the 1970’s free jazz/rock scene, blurring the distinctions between gritty, dark grooves, electronic sounds, loops and samples and free group improvisation.”Sunday 27 | 8.30pm
Martin Speake
Drummer and composer Paul Motian will be 80 years old this month. His contribution to music has been immense, starting with the Bill Evans Trio and then freeing the time-keeping role of the drums in the 60s with Keith Jarrett and Paul Bley. Martin Speake has collaborated with Paul several times for UK tours and this culminated in the recording Change of Heart for ECM, with Bobo Stenson and Mick Hutton featuring Martin’s original music. Tonight Martin celebrates Paul’s music in this special project with guitarist Mike Outram, tuba player Oren Marshall and drummer Jeff Williams.Thursday 31 | 8.30pm

Saxophonist Evan Parker’s free improvisation residency with regular playing partners and stalwarts of the London improvising scene, John Edwards (bass) and Tony Marsh (drums).
