'Birth of Avante-Garde' proves creative, enjoyable

Morton Feldman
Cover of Morton Feldman

There was a full house Friday night for the “Birth of the Avant-Garde,” a Fontana Chamber Arts concert at the Epic Center’s Wellspring Theatre. The concert featured Bosnian born-and-trained pianist Pedja Muzijevic, who now lives in New York….Muzijevic’s program focused mainly on those who were precursors and founders of 20th-century modernism, with a strong American cohort, including Morton Feldman, Henry Cowell, Conlon Nancarrow and especially John Cage.
