Nonclassical (Wednesday) Nonclassical, a genre-blurring British nightclub series and record label run by the young composer Gabriel Prokofiev (grandson of Sergei), showcases two of the artists on its roster: GéNIA, a pianist and the great-grandniece of Vladimir Horowitz; and Joby Burgess, a percussionist and sampler player. Mr. Prokofiev will serve as the host and D.J., spinning selections from Nonclassical recordings between the live performances. At 7:30 p.m., Le Poisson Rouge, 158 Bleecker Street, near Thompson Street, West Village , (212) 505-3474, lepoissonrouge.com; $10. (Smith)

‘Varèse: (R)evolution’ (Monday and Tuesday) The reputation of Edgard Varèse, a composer born in Paris in 1883 and chiefly based in the United States from 1915 until his death in 1965, rests on a small, idiosyncratic and viscerally absorbing body of work, virtually all of which will be featured in these two Lincoln Center Festival concerts. On Monday the International Contemporary Ensemble, So Percussion, Musica Sacra and other artists perform Varèse’s solo and chamber works; Alan Gilbert conducts the New York Philharmonic on Tuesday. Monday at 8 p.m., Alice Tully Hall; Tuesday at 8 p.m., Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center , (212) 721-6500, lincolncenter.org. For Monday’s concert, $30 tickets remain; for Tuesday’s, $40 tickets remain. (Smith)
