From New York’s Darmstadt:
From its humble beginnings as an informal “listening party” of avant-garde records, to monthly presentations of live performance at Galapagos, new music series DARMSTADT has over the years expanded its programming to include an annual festival of ESSENTIAL REPERTOIRE and recently mounted its first month-long INSTITUTE of premieres, workshops, and lecture-perfomances at ISSUE Project Room, nurturing both the canon and next generation of experimental music.
As DARMSTADT celebrates its fifth birthday, we invite you to join us for this special, once-a-year event. We assemble a Who’s-Who of the experimental music scene–instrumentalists across a wide span of genres, singers, electronic artists, filmmakers–to create an inimitable rendering of IN C that Alan Kozinn of the New York Times has dubbed “the most vital, audacious and energizing performance of the score I’ve ever heard.”
