From NYTimes.com:
MICHAEL BISIO AND CONNIE CROTHERS (Friday) Ms. Crothers, a restless but reflective pianist, just wrapped up a month of her own programming at the Stone. KONCEPTIONS (Tuesday) This weekly series in Park Slope, Brooklyn, organized by the pianist and composer James Carney, resumes after a too-long hiatus, setting up shop on Tuesday nights at Korzo, a Central European restaurant and bar. Kicking off the run, at 9:30 p.m., is the Rosetta Trio, a chamberlike group consisting of the guitarists Liberty Ellman and Jamie Fox and the bassist Stephan Crump. At 11, Mr. Carney appears with the bassist Drew Gress and the drummer Gerald Cleaver. Korzo Restaurant, 667 Fifth Avenue, at 20th Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn , (718) 285-9425, korzorestaurant.com; $7 cover per set, with a two-drink minimum. (Chinen)20091001
? CUONG VU (Tuesday) On his most recent album, “Vu-Tet” (ArtistShare), released in 2007, Mr. Vu applied his trumpet and an arsenal of electronic effects toward a gleaming postmillennial fusion. Here he addresses a standard jazz repertory, though surely not with standard results; his partners are the drummer Ted Poor and the bassists Stomu Takeishi and Luke Bergman. At 7:30 and 9:30 p.m., Jazz Standard, 116 East 27th Street, Manhattan , (212) 576-2232, jazzstandard.net; $20. (Chinen)
