Overlooked European jazz hero revels in theatrical improvisation

This weekend, a jazz seminar at the University of Pittsburgh will convene to preach the neo-trad gospel that stubbornly refuses to recognize any significant or positive developments in the genre in the past 40 years.

But try telling that to Dutch saxophonist and clarinetist Willem Breuker, who will appear tonight up the street at Carnegie Mellon.
