At Bargemusic, Real Quiet Plays ‘Varied Trio’

The Real Quiet trio is reviewed.

Of the four pieces that the trio Real Quiet played at Bargemusic on Wednesday night, only one, Lou Harrison’s “Varied Trio,” was not written expressly for the group. Small wonder: The trio, which includes Andrew Russo, a pianist, Felix Fan, a cellist, and David Cossin, a percussionist, hardly adheres to any conventional ensemble format. That it found any off-the-rack repertory that fit was something of a surprise.
