Three Firehouse 12 Artists Nominated for Awards

Firehouse 12 Records is proud to congratulate trumpeter/composer Peter Evans, flutist/composer Nicole Mitchell and drummer/composer Tyshawn Sorey on their nominations in the Up and Coming Artist category of the 2008 Jazz Journalists Association (JJA) Awards. The label released recordings by all three musicians in the past six months, including Evans’ and Sorey’s respective debuts as bandleaders in November 2007, and Ms. Mitchell’s fifth and latest release as a leader in April 2008. The JJA Awards ceremony will be held at the Jazz Standard in New York on Wednesday, June 18th.
