Stéphane Rives is a French soprano saxophonist who is considered a master of extended technique. His solo release, Fibres, features the use of overtones at the top range for his horn, whistling squeals, multiphonics, triple tonguing and circular breathing. He has been called a revolutionary player in recognition of his saxophone capabilities.
Wade Matthews is an American composer, musician and author who has been living in Spain for nearly 20 years. He has appeared at festivals around the world performing on bass clarinet, alto flute and electronics. Matthews has appeared on 12 discs, two of which are solo releases. Matthews conducts workshops on improvisation and has written several articles about improvisation and other arts for various publications. His many collaborators include John Butcher, Peter Kowald, and Jack Wright among many others.
The Stéphane Rives and Wade Matthews duo promises to provide a night of exploratory music that will appeal to experimental music fans as well as those interested in outstanding musicianship.
