Jazz Listings From the New York Times

Live music coming up in New York:

STEVE LEHMAN (Thursday) Mr. Lehman recently released “On Meaning” (Pi), a potent album featuring his dynamic quintet. He has also developed an extensive language for solo saxophone and electronics, which is the ground he covers here. At 8 p.m., the Stone, Avenue C and Second Street, East Village, thestonenyc.com; cover, $10. (Chinen)

TONY MALABY’S APPARITIONS (Saturday) Rhythm and texture are often equal priorities for the tenor saxophonist Tony Malaby, but that would seem especially true in this band, which includes two venturesome drummers — Tom Rainey and John Hollenbeck — along with a bassist, Drew Gress. At 9 and 10:30 p.m., Cornelia Street Café, 29 Cornelia Street, West Village, (212) 989-9319, corneliastreetcafe.com; cover, $10, with a one-drink minimum. (Chinen)

NIGHT OF THE RAVISHED LIMBS (Wednesday) The first set of this weekly series features a punkish combo led by the Swedish guitarist Anders Nilsson, with Peter Nilsson (his brother) on drums, Dave Ambrosio on bass and Darius Jones on alto saxophone. In the later set the drummer Tomas Fujiwara presents a trio built around the pianistic improvisation of Shoko Nagai. At 8 and 10 p.m., Barbès, 376 Ninth Street, at Sixth Avenue, Park Slope, Brooklyn, (718) 965-9177, barbesbrooklyn.com; cover, $10 for each. (Chinen)
