Greenleaf Music is doing something cool – after and upcoming 6 night run of the Dave Douglas Quintet that will be recorded, the shows will be uploaded for immediate release.
We’re playing music from the whole book–tunes from The Infinite, from Strange Liberation, from Meaning and Mystery, as well as a passel of new pieces. In all, it’s 40 or 50 tunes.
We’re going to record all of them, live at the Jazz Standard from December 5–10, 2006. The Standard offers an opportunity to document the gig in high audio quality, and the entire six night run will be recorded and uploaded for release the following day.
This is a new experience for me and for the band–a special kind of challenge to make this gig available to listeners all around the world, almost instantly.
