Kieran Hebden & Steve Reid Six Organs of Admittance The Thing : London UK, 26 April 2006 [CONCERT REVIEW]
by Daniel Spicer

On the face of it, this triple bill seems like an impossibly disparate collection of performers and influences. It’s a lineup that could only exist in a 21st century world where broadband connections and file-sharing systems mean that everyone is listening to everything.

ICP Orchestra : Ann Arbor MI, 28 March 2006 [CONCERT REVIEW]
by David Dupont

The ICP Orchestra was crowded onto the stage, which can barely contain the ten members; and when the band sets up a mini-retail outlet on the front of the stage with short stacks of recordings by the orchestra and various of its members, it gets even more packed—think about your house with 90 guests and a band.

The Sound of Squirrel Meals : The Work of Lol Coxhill [BOOK REVIEW]
by Ken Waxman

As unconventional as the man himself, this scrapbook-sized volume, edited by Barbara Schwarz, has about as much in common with the standard jazz biography as jumble sale clothed Coxhill does with John Lewis, the impeccably groomed pianist of the Modern Jazz Quartet.
