Upcoming from MIO

MIO will soon be releasing the following rarities:

Pocket Orchestra – Collected Works A phenomenal, unreleased album (with bonus tracks) by a group from the American southwest that worked through the mid-70s, the Pocket Orchestra were known as “The Samla of the Desert” by the few that heard them. Incredibly played, complex RIO-styled composition, this one will blow your lid off!

Luc Henrion – Galerie plus… A Belgian keyboard player, Henrion released Galerie in the late ’70s. Similar in feel to the work Klaus Schultze (but more organic), the long suite hints of classical composition, progressive rock, and extraordinarily skillful playing.

Kha-Ym: 10″ G.M.T. [MIO 013] A super rarity, Kha-Ym was a duo that released their only album in 1979, a fantastic, accessible avant-prog record that never reached the audience it deserved. After the death of drummer Jacky Michaud, the multi-instrumentalist Alain Gerber put down his instruments and abandoned his musical career. The music shares similarities with Ange, Houppin/Torgue, Dan ar Bras, Carpe Deim, Grime, and Gwendal but is VERY unique and very original. Highly recommended!

Un Drame Musical Instantan – their first five Grrrr LPs. DMI relied on the improvised free jazz tradition for much of their method of composing. They often added theatrical presentations and used multimedia at their live shows. The group did soundtracks to silent movies, but their studio work often revolved around concept themes – and several of these early albums were performed with orchestra. Many traditional instruments were mixed with electro-acoustic effects, with an emphasis on collective creation and bringing daily life into their art.
