As a reminder, at Shea Stadium, Brooklyn NY, on Saturday, January 14th, Output:NOISE will perform improvised aural interpretations of select mental illnesses in support of their release, A Soundtrack to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV). The presentation will be accompanied by exploratory music from experimental / industrial pioneers, Controlled Bleeding; local noise artist, and member of Parts and Labor, Dan Friel; and Diamond Terrifier, the sax / electronics solo-project from Sam Hillmer of ZS. The Boston Modern Orchestra Project is kicking off the year on January 27th. Spearheading the evening is the world premiere of Eric Chasalow’s Horn Concerto with horn soloist Bruno Schneider. Other works include: the American premiere of Andrew Norman’s Air: Concerto for Theremin with Dalit Warshaw (theremin); Luciano Berio’s Chemins II with Jack Stulz (viola); Keeril Makan’s Dream Lightly: Electric Guitar Concerto with Seth Josel (electric guitar); and Avner Dorman’s Mandolin Concerto with Avi Avital (mandolin).
