Maverick Concerts (Saturday and Sunday) An endearing quirk of this festival is that it is held in an open barn, which allows the sounds of nature to mingle with those of the musicians. On Saturday morning it is presenting a Young People’s Concert with the Trio Solisti performing music by Bernstein, Dvorak and Copland. The trio offers an expanded version of that program — with Copland’s “Vitebsk,” Bernstein’s Piano Trio, Bright Sheng’s Four Movements for Piano Trio, the Dvorak “Dumky” Trio and a trio arrangement of “Hoe-Down” from Copland’s “Rodeo” — on Sunday afternoon. And on Saturday evening the avant-garde quartet Ethel plays a program of new music. At 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday (with a lecture by Mr. Sheng at 3 p.m.), Maverick Concerts, 120 Maverick Road, Woodstock, N.Y., (800) 595-4849, maverickconcerts.org. Children are admitted free, adults $5 on Saturday morning; Saturday evening and Sunday, $25 to $40 and $5 for students. (Kozinn)
New Albion at the Stone (Tuesday through Thursday) New Albion Records, an important label that played a decisive role in supporting the work of composers like Ingram Marshall, Lou Harrison and John Adams, is the focus of a series featuring artists from its remarkably diverse roster.
