AMN Picks of the Week

Here is where I post, at a frequency of about once a week, a list of the new music that has caught my attention that week. All of the releases listed below I’ve heard for the first time this week and come recommended.

Salim Ghazi Saeedi – Iconophobic (2010)
Triptet – Imaginary Perspective (2011)
William Bowers – Soundtracks #2 (2011)
William Parker / Organ Quartet – Uncle Joe’s Spirit House (2010)

David Borden at Issue Project Room Reviewed

From NYTimes.com:

David Borden formed his colorfully named ensemble, Mother Mallard’s Portable Masterpiece Company, in 1969, when he was experimenting with early Moog synthesizers and Minimalist compositional notions. Mr. Borden has composed prolifically for the group since then, and on Wednesday evening he brought his players to the Issue Project Room for an installment of the space’s Darmstadt Institute: Classics of the Avant-Garde series.
