Amina Claudine Myers

From the Kitchen:

On Friday April 15, Industrial pioneer Z’EV will demonstrate his hypnotic, ritualized solo percussion music on a shared bill with cherished No-Wavers, Bush Tetras. The next evening will feature former Kitchen Music Director and Aluminum Nights co-curator George Lewis’s electro-acoustic anthem Homage to Charles Parker from 1979. Lewis will play live with Amina Claudine Myers (piano/organ), Reggie Nicholson (percussion), Matana Roberts (alto saxophone) and Richard Teitelbaum (synthesizers). The epic disco-minimalism of composer/saxophonist Peter Gordon’s Love of Life Orchestra, featuring contributions from Robby Ameen (drums), Max Gordon (trumpet), Randy Gun (guitar), Paul Shapiro (winds), Ned Sublette (guitar), Elio Villafranca (piano) and Peter Zummo (trombone) completes the Aluminum Music weekend. Curated by composer and musician Nick Hallett, the performances will take place at 8:00 P.M. at The Kitchen (512 West 19th Street). Tickets are $12.
