From Out Of Your Head:

We’re thrilled to announce Andrew D’Angelo as our next improviser for the Guest Artist Series.  I’ve been a huge fan of Andrew’s since I heard Human Feel for the first time, and am constantly amazed by the energy he puts into his playing ALL THE TIME.  We’re about halfway there with our Kickstarter campaign.  If you are able to donate to help get him here, we would really really appreciate it.  It promises to be a great night of music, our two-year anniversary, and the kickoff of the second annual NOVO Fest at Windup Space.

Gary Lucas Interviewed About Captain Beefheart

From the Los Angeles Times:

The music that he originated that came up especially on his classic albums such as “Trout Mask Replica,” and “Lick My Decals Off, Baby” had a really big influence on early experimental rock, particularly in the area of rhythm and the deconstruction of traditional melodies and harmonies within the songs. Van Vliet brought in polytonality and atonality within the song structure, and he did it in such a way that once you heard it, it was really hard to shake.
