Hans Tammen’s IRON FOUNDRY score consolidates the endangered guitar’s alien world of bizarre textures with the unremitting & sonic dissonances of Mari Kimura, Jason Hwang, Stephanie Griffin and Thomas Ulrich at the strings. Dark, sometimes brooding ensemble passages mix and mingle with extended solo cadenzas, creating layers of intensity, at times unsettling, frantic and anti-sentimental.

The Mikolaj Trzaska/Steve Swell Duo plus special guests Joe McPhee and Jay Rosen is a meeting of like minded sound travelers who’s journeys crossed paths for the first time in Krakow, Poland in 2007 in Ken Vandermark’s Resonance Ensemble. The several times they have met and played together since then has made them aware that there was no alternative for their boundless energies and creativity than to set out on this duo format for their rich musical expressions. Passion and intelligence is what gives these world class improvisers their platform for the most magical of music making. Their inspired performances make no demands on the listener other than to just let their ingenious visions appear. This performance has been generously supported by The Polish Cultural Institute.
