Alto saxophonists Rudresh Mahanthappa and Bunky Green collaborated on the new album Apex, slated to be released September 28, 2010 on Pi Recordings. The album features the all-star band of Jason Moran on piano, François Moutin on bass, and Damion Reid and Jack DeJohnette sharing drumming duties. Brought together by similar jazz minds and a mutual appreciation for Charlie Parker, Green and Mahanthappa are separated by 36 years. However, the styles of the two sax men complement one another as if they’ve played together for years.
