From the Montreal Gazette, an article comparing the recent response to Zorn et al. in Montreal to Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring Premiere.
While it was small potatoes compared to the riot that greeted the premiere of Igor Stravinsky‘s Le sacre du printemps at Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris on May 29, 1913, the brouhaha triggered by the free-form concert by Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed and John Zorn at Salle Wilfrid Pelletier, July 2, 2010, made headlines around the world. And the jazz festival performance gave local melomanes as memorable a musical firestorm as has been witnessed in years.
