The astonishing English composer Frank Denyer writes music that is like no other. His compositions inhabit a world of fragility, fragmentation and decay, where a piece may magically combine footsteps, the rattling of mango seeds, a crow call, and fleeting melodies. In this first United States concert showcasing Denyer’s music, we also hear compositions from the American experimental tradition: Alvin Lucier’s transfixing Still Lives and James Tenney’s Three Pieces for Drum Quartet.
