New on Important Records

A few new releases from Important Records:

ELIANE RADIGUE .
Vice Versa, etc….

1970 was an important year in Eliane Radigue‘s musical life since it was the year just before she acquired her ARP 2500 synthesizer. Since 1967, she had been using the feedback as a material; feedback from two tape recorders reworked through intensive studio techniques: slowing down, alteration, superimposition, montage. (more)

ELIANE RADIGUE .
Triptych

Includes liner notes & archival photographs. On the suggestion of Robert Ashley, Douglas Dunn commissioned this piece from Eliane Radigue for choreography. Only the first part of Triptych was staged at the premiere at the Dancehall/Theatre of Nancy on February 27 1978. (more)

MERZBOW .
13 Japanese Birds Vol. 8

Merzbow Bird series volume 8 (more)

OM

Conference Live was recorded on 24 track remote audio and pressed at RTI in order to achieve the highest possible quality. Die cut super heavy duty tip-on style jackets by Stoughton.

AccuJazz Previews the Chicago Jazz Festival

The Chicago Reader has the scoop:

This year AccuJazz, which is programmed by local jazz drummer Lucas Gillan, is being clearer about what it’s doing. Under the auspices of ChicagoJazz.com it’s created ChicagoJazz.com Radio, which includes a special channel for the Chicago Jazz Festival. The channel consists of more than 400 songs, all of them by artists performing at the fest and some by the exact combos that are coming to town. Though I suppose getting a big heap of music, arranged without regard to subgenre or quality, has its merits—you can end up hearing some worthwhile material you wouldn’t have thought to seek out yourself—listening to it can be a tiring experience. It helps that Internet radio stations like AccuJazz, unlike their conventional counterparts, let you skip to the next track when you’ve had enough of something.
